Chimney sweeping and cleaning for Wahroonga homes. Every job starts with a camera inspection and ends with a signed compliance certificate — from the Howard Joseland houses in the Burns Road conservation area to the properties on the Hornsby side of the suburb.
Every Eco chimney sweep follows a structured process designed to leave your chimney safe and your home spotless.
1. Pre-Sweep Inspection
Before we touch a brush, we inspect the chimney from the firebox up. We check for cracks, blockages, signs of animal nesting, and structural damage. For detailed inspections, we use HD camera diagnostics to see inside the flue.
2. Full Protective Setup
We lay industrial drop sheets around the hearth and seal the firebox opening. Our vacuum system runs continuously during the sweep to capture soot and debris at the source. Nothing enters your living space.
3. Sweeping & Creosote Removal
Using rotary brushes matched to your flue size, we remove all soot, ash, and creosote from the flue lining. For heavy creosote buildup (Stage 2 or 3), we use specialist chemical treatments before mechanical sweeping.
4. Post-Sweep Inspection & Compliance Certificate
After sweeping, we re-inspect the flue to confirm it’s clear and structurally sound. You receive a signed compliance certificate documenting the condition of your chimney — suitable for home insurance records or pre-sale property reports.

One of Sydney’s richest heritage pockets. The Wahroonga Conservation Area covers Burns Road, Coonanbarra Road and Water Street and includes eleven houses by the architect Howard Joseland. Original flues, original brickwork, and fireplaces that are still lit every winter.
Ku-ring-gai Chase to the north. Wahroonga sits directly south of the national park. Leaf litter in cowls through autumn and ember risk in summer both come with that.
Large houses, more than one flue. Federation estates here often have several fireplaces. Each flue is swept and inspected separately.
In a conservation area, the chimney is not optional. Ku-ring-gai Council’s Development Control Plan states plainly that fireplaces and chimneys are important building elements within heritage conservation areas and are to be retained. Wahroonga has three of those areas — the Wahroonga Conservation Area, the Heydon Avenue and Woodville Avenue area, and the Mahratta area around Fox Valley Road. If your house sits inside one, capping or removing a flue is the wrong answer. Maintaining it is the only answer.
The local heritage record is specific about chimneys. The Briars on Woonona Avenue, built in 1895 and listed on the State Heritage Register, is described in its listing by its original chimney pots with fans, and it still holds original fireplaces with the servant bells beside them. Mahratta, built in 1941 on the Pacific Highway, has circular chimneys made from specially moulded curved face bricks. Flues like these do not take a standard brush set, so we bring rods and heads sized for the shaft we actually find.
Wahroonga is the leafiest suburb we sweep. Council’s 2020 aerial survey measured 53.1 per cent tree canopy here, the highest of the Upper North Shore suburbs we cover. Leaf litter and bark packed into cowls and flue crowns is the most common blockage we clear in Wahroonga, and it builds fastest between March and May.
Three quarters of Wahroonga is detached houses. 74.5 per cent at the 2021 Census, and the Federation estates near the station regularly have three or four flues in one roof. Each flue is swept, inspected and certified separately — we quote per flue, not per house, so you are not paying for chimneys you do not have.
Ember risk is real here, and it arrives early. Wahroonga and North Wahroonga have their own bushfire lot-depth maps in Council’s planning controls. Council’s bushfire reporting identifies ember attack as the main cause of house ignition, and notes embers can reach a house up to 30 minutes before the fire front arrives, from 400 to 500 metres away. A cracked flue or a missing spark arrestor is a direct opening into the roof.
We also provide professional aircon cleaning for Wahroonga homes. Most of our Wahroonga customers book both services — chimney sweep in autumn, aircon clean in spring — and we offer a combined booking discount.
Our eco-friendly aircon cleaning covers split systems, ducted systems, and multi-head units. Full disassembly, degreasing, pressure rinse, and sanitising.
Wahroonga is located in Sydney’s Upper North Shore. Wahroonga Park, Knox Grammar, Abbotsleigh, Wahroonga station, Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park nearby. The suburb is well known for its tree-lined streets, quality schools, and established residential character.
Wahroonga’s housing stock includes many properties with original fireplaces and chimneys, making it a key service area for chimney maintenance and repair.
