Chimney sweeping and cleaning for Pymble homes. Every job starts with a camera inspection and ends with a signed compliance certificate — from the Federation and Spanish Mission houses around Church Street and Telegraph Road to the newer homes backing onto Dalrymple-Hay Nature Reserve.
Every Eco chimney sweep follows a structured process designed to leave your chimney safe and your home spotless.
1. Pre-Sweep Inspection
Before we touch a brush, we inspect the chimney from the firebox up. We check for cracks, blockages, signs of animal nesting, and structural damage. For detailed inspections, we use HD camera diagnostics to see inside the flue.
2. Full Protective Setup
We lay industrial drop sheets around the hearth and seal the firebox opening. Our vacuum system runs continuously during the sweep to capture soot and debris at the source. Nothing enters your living space.
3. Sweeping & Creosote Removal
Using rotary brushes matched to your flue size, we remove all soot, ash, and creosote from the flue lining. For heavy creosote buildup (Stage 2 or 3), we use specialist chemical treatments before mechanical sweeping.
4. Post-Sweep Inspection & Compliance Certificate
After sweeping, we re-inspect the flue to confirm it’s clear and structurally sound. You receive a signed compliance certificate documenting the condition of your chimney — suitable for home insurance records or pre-sale property reports.

Original masonry flues. Pymble’s Federation, Spanish Mission and Art Deco homes were built with masonry flues, and many are still on their original brickwork. A camera inspection shows what is actually going on inside before anyone lights a fire.
Blue gum litter. Pymble backs onto Dalrymple-Hay Nature Reserve, one of the last stands of Sydney Blue Gum in the area. Blue gums shed bark and leaves heavily, and that debris collects in cowls and flue openings.
Tall flues on big blocks. Pymble’s large blocks and two-storey homes mean long flues — more internal surface for creosote to build up over a winter.
Eight conservation areas, more than any other suburb we cover. Park Estate, Pymble Heights around Church Street, Fernwalk, Orinoco Street, Pymble Avenue, Mona Vale Road, Telegraph Road and Athol. Ku-ring-gai Council’s Development Control Plan states that fireplaces and chimneys within heritage conservation areas are important building elements and are to be retained. Across most of Pymble that means the chimney stays, and it needs to be maintained properly.
Pymble’s flues start earlier than most of the North Shore. Subdivision began in the early 1880s, ahead of the North Shore railway line in 1890, on Robert Pymble’s 1823 land grant. The result is late Victorian, Federation Queen Anne and inter-war Arts and Crafts stock, in roughly that order, with genuine masonry flues rather than modern steel liners. Telegraph Road includes houses designed by Walter Burley Griffin. When a flue is 130 years old, the brickwork inside it is what needs inspecting, not just the soot.
Pymble has the biggest houses of the five. 58.2 per cent of Pymble dwellings have four or more bedrooms at the 2021 Census, the highest of the Upper North Shore suburbs we cover. More rooms means more fireplaces and more flues in one roof. We sweep, inspect and certify each flue separately, and we quote per flue rather than per house.
Tall trees, and a lot of them. 50.8 per cent tree canopy on Council’s 2020 aerial survey. Pymble and St Ives hold the largest remnants of Blue Gum High Forest, a critically endangered community with less than five per cent of its original extent remaining, and Sydney Blue Gums here reach 30 metres. Dalrymple-Hay Nature Reserve and Sheldon Forest both sit inside the suburb. Debris from trees that tall does not blow off a cowl, it packs into it.
Pymble is on Council’s bushfire risk list. The suburb is named in Ku-ring-gai Council’s bushfire risk reporting, with the Lane Cove River catchment identified as the risk valley and Lane Cove National Park on the south-western boundary. Council reports that ember attack is the main cause of house ignition, arriving up to 30 minutes before the fire front and from 400 to 500 metres out. We check the cowl and the spark arrestor on every Pymble sweep, not just the flue.
We also provide professional aircon cleaning for Pymble homes. Most of our Pymble customers book both services — chimney sweep in autumn, aircon clean in spring — and we offer a combined booking discount.
Our eco-friendly aircon cleaning covers split systems, ducted systems, and multi-head units. Full disassembly, degreasing, pressure rinse, and sanitising.
Pymble is located on the Upper North Shore, home to Pymble Ladies’ College, the Avondale Golf Club, and close to Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park. The suburb sits along the North Shore rail line with easy access to Pymble station. The suburb is well known for its tree-lined streets, quality schools, and established residential character.

Yes. After every sweep and inspection, we provide a signed compliance certificate suitable for home insurance purposes.
Yes. We service the entire Upper North Shore, including nearby suburbs.
Yes. A large part of our work in Pymble is in the Church Street and Telegraph Road conservation areas. We put drop sheets down, use industrial vacuum containment, and inspect with a camera rather than opening up brickwork.
It usually means more leaf litter and bark in the cowl and the top of the flue. We clear it as part of the sweep and check that the cowl and spark arrestor are intact, which matters on bushfire-prone land.
At least once a year if you use your fireplace regularly. Pymble’s cooler micro-climate and heavy fireplace usage mean annual sweeps are essential, not optional.
